Trump Calls Loved Ones of Attacked National Guard Personnel to the Presidential Residence
Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the presidential home.
He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Background on the Tragic Incident
US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.
Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their memory.
White House Offer
The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both individuals of the state Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump addressed reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Reaction
Attendees assembled over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to honor Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to aid policing efforts in the capital.
Honoring Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the type of pupil that educators hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the leader of her previous school, informed the press. “She was sweet, caring and always willing to support those in need.”
Memorial details for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Legal Steps and Policy Adjustments
Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The event led the administration to halt asylum processing and cease issuing entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.
Status of Wolfe
The airman, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the Associated Press.
He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general the attorney general told the program that she aimed to speak to the family.
Memory of Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with honor, according to the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” he addressed the gathering at the service. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
