Line of Duty Announced for 7th Season on the British Broadcaster
The acclaimed police drama Line of Duty will make a comeback for its 7th installment, announced by the broadcaster.
A brand new six-part season written by the show's creator will begin filming in Belfast this spring, as confirmed by the production team.
The actress shared her enthusiasm about the comeback, saying she was "thrilled" about the series' return. Adrian Dunbar remarked, "What a joy it is to know that the Three Amigos will be reuniting together soon."
The last series concluded in 2021 with a finale that drew in more than 17 million audience members. Rumors about a potential return have been widespread for some time, but official word only came this week.
New Challenges for The Team
The seventh season will open with AC-12 no longer existing and rebranded as the Inspectorate of Police Standards, according to production details.
Martin Compston's character, Kate Fleming, and Adrian Dunbar's part remain tasked to combat corruption within the police force.
The team's mission "faces unprecedented challenges", and under these circumstances, these officers will take on their "most delicate case to date."
Fresh Face and Complex Case
A new character, DI Dominic Gough, described as a charismatic officer celebrated for busts of organized crime, faces allegations of misusing his authority to become a sexual predator.
Yet, this investigation might serve as a intentional diversion from a bigger threat still active in the background, the teaser suggested.
In a statement, the creator said: "All cast and crew are deeply thankful to the show's fans."
"It's an honor to have had countless followers watch the ups and downs of AC-12 over six previous seasons and we are thrilled to be coming back for a new installment."
He added: "Misconduct in the UK was thought to be over while the series was off air, so I've been forced to use my imagination."
Actor Responses
Martin Compston called appearing in the series as "a job of a lifetime".
"Beyond the program's popularity but the colleagues I've worked with I now call dear friends."
"I'm excited to pull the waistcoat on again and reunite with everyone," he said.
Vicky McClure remarked: "Obviously I'm so excited Line of Duty is back! Can't wait to work with the creator, Compston and Adrian again. The city, we'll see you soon!"
The veteran actor commented: "As we count down the AC-12 days of Christmas, what a joy it is to know that the Three Amigos will be working together soon."
