Iran Claims Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is not yet known and the American officials has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.
The statement noted debris landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
