Brian Eno Calls On Public Help to Get Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Christmas No 1.

A campaign is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort hopes to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Chance for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an surprise number one.

“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”

Defiant Message of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“It has a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Star-Studded Lineup

The track was produced after a major charity concert held in the autumn. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the rendition was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The diverse array of performers appearing on Lullaby encompasses a selection of well-known figures from the scene. All were part of the benefit event, which successfully generated a significant sum for relief efforts.

Production and Release

Lullaby was crafted by a trio of producers and composers. The single blends a mix of the heritage language with freshly written English words.

The group managing the initiative have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an established charity.

“There is no a specific target,” a representative said. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Of course, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The context in the territory was described as its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings described as destroyed or damaged.

“In that context, a handful of millions won't make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”

The track is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from mid-December.
